Turning Experience into Impact: The Story Behind Ally Compliance Solutions

If you had asked me in 2005 what my career would look like, I don’t think I could have imagined the path that led me here. Like many people, my journey into government contracting wasn’t planned—it was something I grew into over time.
After earning my associate’s degree in business with a concentration in accounting, I stepped away from school to focus on my family. Soon after, we moved overseas—unknowingly stepping into the world that would shape my entire career.
My First Introduction to GovCon
My entry point into government contracting was as a receptionist in an accounting department supporting a contract at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
It didn’t stay that way for long.
I was curious. I asked questions. I paid attention.
That curiosity led to an opportunity to move into a staff accountant role, and eventually into a senior budget analyst position supporting a $500M cost‑plus‑fixed‑fee (CPFF) contract.
That experience was pivotal. It exposed me not just to the mechanics of accounting, but to the broader complexity of government contracts—how funding flows, how compliance impacts operations, and how every decision ultimately ties back to the contract.
Bridging the Gap
In 2009, I was given an opportunity that would change everything. I was asked to travel to Huntsville, Alabama, to help bridge a gap between a project office and the corporate accounting and contracts teams.
It was one of those moments where you can either stay comfortable—or take a leap.
I took the leap.
That temporary assignment turned into a full‑time role as a project accountant and brought my family back to the United States. Once in Huntsville, I continued building my foundation. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Acquisition and Contract Management from Athens State University and transitioned fully into contracts.
Learning from Both Sides
Over the years, I’ve worked with both large organizations and small businesses. While large companies offer structure and scale, I found myself drawn to small businesses—their energy, their urgency, and their ability to adapt quickly.
In small businesses, there’s no such thing as “that’s not my job.” People step in where they’re needed. Engineers become program managers. CEOs negotiate contracts. Teams solve problems in real time, and I respect that—because I’ve lived it too.
The Reality Small Businesses Face
Since 2015, I’ve served as a working manager in project controls and contracts, building and leading departments from the ground up and I’ve seen the same challenge over and over again:
Critical functions like contracts and project controls are often handled by capable people who were never formally trained to do the work.
Not because they aren’t smart or motivated—but because accessible, practical training resources simply don’t exist for where they are.
I’ve hired entry‑level professionals and employees who were suddenly “assigned” to contracts or project controls. When I tried to send them to traditional FAR boot camps or formal training programs, the result was almost always the same:
They were overwhelmed.
The terminology alone can feel like a foreign language. And most training assumes a baseline knowledge that many people just don’t have—yet.
What I Love Most About This Work
The most rewarding part of my career has never been the systems or the processes.
It’s been the people.
I genuinely enjoy training employees—helping them not just understand their role, but excel in it.
Not just what to do, but why it matters.
What information do you actually have?
How do you communicate it effectively to stakeholders?
How does your role impact the rest of the organization?
How can you make processes smoother—not just compliant?
These are the questions that often go untaught—but make all the difference.
Why I Started Ally Compliance Solutions
Ally Compliance Solutions was built from these experiences.
I started this company because I saw a gap—between what small businesses truly need and what traditional training and consulting typically provide. Small businesses don’t just need compliance. They need clarity. They need practical guidance. They need someone who understands the reality of wearing multiple hats and still getting the job done.
Ally Compliance Solutions exists to meet companies where they are—to help them build strong, scalable contracts and project control functions without overwhelming their teams.
Because compliance shouldn’t feel impossible and training shouldn’t feel out of reach.
Let’s Work Together
If any part of this story sounds familiar—if your team is figuring things out as you go, juggling responsibilities, or trying to make sense of contracts and project controls without a clear roadmap—you’re not alone.
That’s exactly why I started Ally Compliance Solutions.
If you’re looking for practical, real‑world support to strengthen your contracts or project controls function, I’d love to connect.
